Good Afternoon,

A client of mine has recently run into a sync problem that I'm having a
difficult time with. The client receives error 5461: could not send to
the server. It appears that the handheld, a Palm Tungsten E, is able to
successfully sync with the PC, which runs Windows 2000. However, the
avantgo portion of the sync process times out, and returns the message I
mentioned above.

I suspect that either Windows, or some kind of firewall software is
blocking the network communication between the pc and our AG server --
which uses port 8080. The client is at a remote location, and so there
is no way I can examine their configuration. I was wondering if anyone
had encountered this error, and could suggest possible solutions.

You can ask your user to test connection between his/her desktop and your
sync server, through a desktop application called AvantGo Connect or
M-Business Connect. Please consult Client User Guide Chapter 7 for how to
do this.
