i have an nvarchar(2000) field and the column in the datawindow will only
retrieve 255 char. How can I get around this? If I do a manual retrieve the
column is returning the full text.

Any help would be great.

If it's MS-SQLServer are you using the "Native" driver (i.e. PBMSS070.dll)?

Jim;

You are "hosed" (Canadian term for "out-of-luck"). Both Microsoft and
Sybase no longer support this access mechanism. The DBLIB.dll is still
shipped with SQLServer2000 but is frozen at release 6.5 functionality (i.e.:
No columns > 255 even though the DB really has them). So your only recourse
at this point is to use: ODBC, OLE-DB or ADO.net DB Drivers to access
SQLServer 200x if you want to get to the new DB features (like large
columns).

Or else use computes in SQL select on dw like and then concat then (if not a
updateble dw).

SELECT SUBSTRING(mycol,1,255),
SUBSTRING(mycol,256,255),
SUBSTRING(mycol,511,255),
SUBSTRING(mycol,766,255),
SUBSTRING(mycol,1021,255),
SUBSTRING(mycol,1276,255),
SUBSTRING(mycol,1531,255),
SUBSTRING(mycol,1786,214),
othercol, ...
FROM table
WHERE ...

To update is necessary do it apart (works well besides drive problem).

PS: Better is to change connection like Julian say.

Good luck
BMartins
