Hi,

we have a problem with synchronising Lotus Notes calendar
entries using SyncML, Pylon Anywhere 5.5.4.

I have duplicated Calendar entries in the moblie phone while
in Notes only one exits.

Yesterday I synched initial the calendar and during that day
everything went fine. Today the 1st synchronisation took a
long time and some entries duplicated. What I know about
these entries they are repeated events in my Lotus Notes.

Do you have any tip why it is duplicated? Do you know the
reason why the 1st sync takes a huge time (we experienced
the same delay on WAP browsing)? How can it be decreased?

Thanks, Gabor

Gabor:

Did the calendar entries already exist on the device (ie: had you synched
with the device's standard cradle sync software against your Notes client?
Are the entries duplicated in the Pylon Anywhere Web PIM?

The 1st sync for a new user takes time since it needs to do the first
backend sync with Domino. You could minimize this from the device by first
accessing the Calendar information from the Pylon Anywhere Web PIM.

If you only see duplicates on the SyncML device, most likely it is that the
SyncML protocol is not giving Pylon Anywhere enough information to determine
that the calendar entry already exisits, or perhaps the device modified the
original entry in some way. We would need to examine the Darkstar logging
to learn more.

Hi Matt,

There were no Calendar entries in the mobile phone
previously. They were 1st created yesterday during the
initial sync. Then today when I synched some of them became
duplicated. In WEB PIM only single entries appear.
We use over the air sync using GPRS via Internet w/o any PC
connection.
Now I have deleted all entries from my mobile phone and
synched twice. It looks no duplication, but tomorrow I will
see. I have switched on DARKSTAR and will put here tomorrow.
Regarding the 1st sync performance as I experienced day
after day the 1st sync of the day is slower then the rest on
the day. So it looks that there is bigger sync/maintenance
once per a day which is the 1st sync of the day. For
insctances I can see a big amount deletes initiated on Pylon
Server however no activeites I had in my PIM. So it looks
Pylon does something in its DB. What I tried to set
Performance option limiting the synched entires in the past
to a lower number such as 7 days in case of Calendar.
However I am interested in if theres is any way to do this
daily maintenance automaticaly in the night for instance?
For instance I have found a setting in Pylon
Anywhere/Settings/Sync immediately when Exchange/Domino data
changes even if user has no push or alert device. I don't
really catch what it is for, but it may be I am looking for.
OR it can be done on DB level, however I cannot understand
what happenning is in the background.

Thanks, Gabor

Gabor:

Are you able to take screen shots of the two calendar entries on the device?
Can you open each one up so I can see all of the details of both the
original and the duplicate?

That will also help me navigate the log to find a specific example of an
entry that was duplicated.

Are all of the duplicates from today repeating meetings in Notes? Any
non-repeating entries showing this behaviour?

Hi Matt,

It looks the problem has disappeared, however just I
reinitialised the phone Calendar and re-created the entry
(repeated entries) in Lotus Notes. Thanks for the help!

It looks the synch is also faster now...
