Hi,
We are having a problem with parallel transactions on ASA. DB access is
thread-safe but there are 2 applications hammering the engine with requests.
Any ideas what may have gone wrong there. We are using ASA 9.0.0.1108 and
the ASA .NET provider
(ASAPROV). Any hints are appreciated.
thanks
Emad Attia

Can you be a bit more specific about the problem that you're having? Is
it performance? Contention? Memory usage? I/O performance?

We are basically getting that error from time to time when we make requests
to the DB. The requests are basically calls to stored procs.

I believe this means that you are trying to create a new transaction in
a connection which is already in a transaction. ASA only supports one
concurrent transaction per connection and it does not support nested
transactions (it has SAVEPOINTs within a single transaction though).

Do you use "BEGIN TRANSACTION" within your code at all?

If you aren't sure, try enabling a request-level logging in the server
and analyzing the log file after the error occurs.

Hope this helps,
