I am using the Informix 9 driver (transaction object)
supplied with the eval version of DataWindow.Net (build
4500). My WinForm has 2 datawindow control objects
(master/detail). My window connects to the database
(Informix 9.40 on Linux) and the data windows behave
properly. I can close my *form* with no problem. However,
when I close the application, I get a memory error: "The
instruction at [some address] referenced memory at [another
address]. The memory could not be read."

If I run the application and open other windows not using
DataWindow.Net, I don't have any problems exiting the
application. It seems that the Informix Transaction is the
problem. If I comment out the transaction1.Connect(), the
application will run and exit normally. (Of course, I get no
data in my data windows!) I tried commenting out other parts
of the code, like the Disconnect in the form's closing
event. None of these solved the memory error.

Any ideas what this could be? If there are Informix-related
problems, I'll probably have to look at other options.

There were some instability issues with the Informix native
connectivity, but the ones that I was aware of (and which sound very
similar to yours) have been fixed in the latest EBF. Can you download
the EBF from the sybase.com site? The DataWIndow .NET EBF is actually
included with the PowerBuilder 10 EBFs (for the moment), so look under
the PowerBuilder product for the Build 5064 release.

Apparently I have to be a client to get the maintenance/EBF
downloads. I think that I have answered most of my concerns
about using DataWindow.Net and will be buying the product in
the hopes that the latest build does remove the
Informix-related memory error.

You need a sybase.com profile, but you shouldn't require being a
'client' to download the EBFs. That said though, I am not certain you
can apply an EBF to the evaluation version.
