Hi all

I have a HUGE problem with edit masks and PB902 7509. The first time I open
the window (any window on my app), this control gets focus without problem,
I write some data on it, do some processing and then blank it. Without
closing the window, when the em gets focus again, the cursor is blinking on
the end of the control, causing lot of troubles when inputing data.

One workarround would be SelectText ( 1 , 999 ) in GetFocus Event, but it
would be really inconvenient to rewrite tons of existing code.

I assume this is a PB902 bug, since this problem doesnt exist in previous
versions.

I would like some help please
Regads
Julián

Julián;

We have been System Testing all our PB 9.0.2 applications intensively as
we are headed towards production for December 2, 2004. We do not see any
edit mask problems in any application. Are you sure that you have the
correct runtime components (DLL's) loaded along with your application?

regards ... Chris

Hi Chris:

1) The example provided is PB10. As you can see in the subject, my apps are
runnng in PB902 7509.

2) My problem is that the expoused behaviour is PB9 because I didnt have
this issue on PB80. If the workaround involves script modification, it would
be inconvinient, because I should modify hundreds of windows and userobjects
etc

Julián;

Old age <lol> .. "sometimers disease" - what can I say. I was porting the
code to PB 10 to make sure it was OK there and then zipped that version by
mistake! Please find the PB 9.0.2.7509 version attached (works!) ..

Hi Chris

I am very thankful for Chris help. Its similar of the workaround that I
implemented before asking the question to the forum. Now I want to make
clear something for the rest of the group. Problem expoused is a change of
behavior from PB80 to PB90. My apps have more than 70 pbls with an
interesting amount of windows and userobjects in each of them. ¿ Should I
modify ALL my code to implement this solution ? I was hoping to get the
problem solved in 902 7534. But it isnt.

Thanks again Chris for your help.

Julián

Julián;

I have setup a standard visual user object ancestor for all EditMask
objects. It has a "oe_clear" event. In there I IntraSpect the EM control and
if it is numeric or decimal I use the THIS.SelectText (3,0) as required. If
this behavior changes in PB 11, etc I just have one place to realign the
behavior I want for all applications.

Food for thought.

Chris;

I understand .. Thats the way it should be. Unfortunately the app Im working
in does not have this level of inheritance. Nevertheless, if its possible, I
would like to know from any of the guys of TeamSybase if this is a permanent
change of behaviuor or an ebf is espected.

Regards
Julián

That's a question for Sybase Tech support. TeamSybase members don't work
for Sybase and can not give an official statement about whether something is
intended/unintended behavior.
