Lead Programmer, web-based database application developer
(Programmer/Analyst III)


Designs, develops, tests, and maintains complex
transactional and reporting systems in a web-based and
client-server environment. Systems are used to input,
process and report on Graduate Division information that
includes graduate student fellowships, degrees, recruitment
and retention, appointments, and fee remissions.
Designs and develops an integrated software architecture
platform for use by Graduate Division Systems Unit
emphasizing reuse and integration with other systems.
Trains and mentors other technical staff in the use and
extension of the new software platform.
Performs ad hoc reporting as needed selecting from a complex
array of data sources, combining and massaging data as
needed, and presenting it in a format that is appropriate
for the intended audience
Participates in redesign of reporting systems residing in
legacy mainframe environment.

Over 6 years total experience with emphasis on web-based
application server and client-server technologies. At least
3 years in a technical lead capacity.

Advanced skills in:
- Java/J2EE application server environments
- Oracle RDBMS and Oracle PL/SQL
- systems integration including XML, XSLT and web services
- complete software lifecycle for development of
mission-critical systems containing sensitive data stored in
a complex relational database

Intermediate skills in:
- PowerBuilder and Sybase EAServer
- software architecture evaluation, design and deployment
- ad hoc reporting and data analysis
- design and maintenance of datawarehouses and reporting

Demonstrated ability to:
- work on multiple projects with a high degree of autonomy
- maintain focus on customer needs and effective use of
technology tools to meet those needs;
- contribute effectively in a strong team environment
- mentor and train other technical staff.

Must have demonstrated skills in:
- communication with non-technical customers, members of
technical team, and vendors ,
- technical problem solving, and
- planning and meeting deadlines in needs assessment,
product design, and service delivery phases of projects
