Hi,

I have set up an advantage database server configured to port 2201.

Our network guys have opened port 2201 on the firewall.

If I try and access the advantage database in the format of \\IP
Address:2201\share, I cannot connect.

The network guy is saying that kind of mapping cannot work and yet if I run
your demo ais app, it works in the same format.

He is also unwilling to turn off the filtering of UDP packets on the
firewall as he says this will open up the web server to the internet.

I don't really know enough about this configuration as it is not my area of
expertise.

Can anyone tell me how you got this working and what setup you have so that
I can go back to him to see if there is anything he can change?

Regards

Mike

That format is correct.

UDP packets must be allowed through port 2201 for the Advantage connection
to work.

Turn off rights checking and the 5004 should go away.

Fixed it. I didn't have AIS in the oledb string.

Works great now and quite fast.

Well done. This successful test of the AIS has ensured that we will be using
ADS as our SQL Server of choice.
