I have created a window in which the user is prompted to
select a company (there are different companies, which are
located in a db table). After selecting that company (along
with other selection critieria), the application will pull
orders. The issue is that I need a ddlb control to act like
either a dddw or ddlb in a dw that has an associated table.
I have not been able to figure out how to display all the
companies (display value is company name), get the selected
value (ddlb.text) and then find the company_id (data value).
I will use this data value to one of the retrieval values.

I have searched for a solution for this, but I have not been
able to find one.

From what you have said you want a ddlb to act like a dddw. Out of curiosity
why is that you cannot you use a dddw directly and avoid all these headaches
?

To the end user there is no difference between a dddw and ddlb visually or
the way it works.
You can create a datawindow based on company table with company name and
company id as the 2 columns. Use this datawindow as a dddw with the company
name as the dispaly column and company id data column and so when the user
selects a company name you can get the company id as the data and then use
this id to to do what ever you want.
