Hi

I have developed a web service in .Net on a win2k server in the DMZ.
This service needs to access the ADS 6.2 server on the protected side of the
firewall.
Currently the Lan port on ADS is set to 2003, and this port has been opened
in the firewall.
When trying to connect to the ADS server, the data architect gives a 6420
discovery error.
Whe have also opened port 139, 4899, 1708 and 1920 just to try to get this
going.

Please, any suggestion is welcome.

Regards
Herbert

you need to specify the port either in the connection string
(\\192.168.1.100:2003\share\data) or in the ads.ini file (check the
help file for ads.ini settings, LAN_IP,LAN_PORT).

Thank you for your quick response Joachim. (Vielen Dank)
I should have included the ADS.ini File.

At the time of writing my first post, my ADS.ini read... hence the
discovery error using the Alias.
[CHETDB]
LAN_IP=128.10.0.17
LAN_PORT=2003

[Databases]
CHETDB=\\128.10.0.17\stardb\star
**************************
I have since tried just using

[CHETDB]
LAN_IP=128.10.0.17
LAN_PORT=2003

and then using \\chetdb\stardb as a path to connect to (via connection type:
Path).
Result Error: 6097
***************************
The same result if the ADS.ini file reads
[Databases]
CHETDB=\\128.10.0.17:2003\stardb\star
and I try to connect via Alias
***************************
Finally using \\128.10.0.17:2003\stardb as a path to connect to (via
connection type: Path).
I still get Error: 6097

Any other suggestions please.

Regards
Herbert

6097 means that the port is used, but ADS can't connect to that port.
Did you open the firewall for UDP or for TCP?
ADS uses UDP/IP!
