Hello:

I have a Delphi 6 project using TADSCONNECTION and TADSTABLE, I need to
upgrade it to Delphi 2005, which Advantgae component is good for me to use
to accesss to Advantage Database, and take less change to the code.

I found BDP is supposed to be designed for this, how to use it.

Thanks.

If you already successfully use the ADS components you should stay with
them. For D2005 they're called Advantage Data Access Components (ADAC).

BDP is a ADO.NET Data Provider which supports multiple databases (like
dbExpress did). It can only be used with Winforms applications. A
migration of an existing project uses VCL - not Winforms - and so you
can't use the BDP.

Thanks for your direction.

I did use ADAC, I removed " adsset, adscnnct, adsdata, adsfunc, adstable"
from "USES", but after I save it, they are added automatically, how can I
handle this.

As long as the components are placed on the form, the units will be
added automatically back.

Actually, Delphi 2005 failed to convert my Delphi6 project automatically.
Therefore I did it manually as following:
1. Create a new VCL Forms Application in Delphi2005.
2. Then add all the files of Delphi6 project, including the DataModule file,
in the DataModule file, it has:
"uses
Windows, Messages, SysUtils, Classes, Graphics, Controls, Forms, Dialogs,
Db, adsset, adsdata, adsfunc, adstable, adscnnct;"
3. When I delete the "adsset, adsdata.....", then save the file, it always
come out automatically, because the compunents are not updated to ADAC
components.

How can I upgrade the Components.

Thanks.

you don't need. They're still the same. Depending on the path
information Delphi uses ADAC instead of TDataset (it's just naming).

If I just open the Delphi6 DataModule file in Delphi2005 project, then save
it. When I compile it it give error that "adsset.dcu can not be found"

I give you my DataModule file fas attached, you try it, and you will know
what is my problem.

Thanks.

Did you adjust your path settings?
Also: For .NET you can adjust the Namespace Prefixes (Project
Options->Directories/conditionals). I'd also recommend to add
Advantage.VCL there.
