How to I accomplish the following:

1) Obtain a list of connection caches available on EAServer? I want to
utilize this list in a dropdown within PowerBuilder.

2) Change the connection cache used for a given application dynamically. Of
course, I have to set the initial connection cache in AEM but within the
application, I want to be able to allow users that are aliased to DBO the
ability to change to a different database. I have it working in a client
server application and it works great but how to get the same functionality
to work through Appeon and EAServer.

Thank you.

Chuck

Hi Chuck,

For the first question, please post it at the PowerBuilder forum or EAServer forum.

For the second question, refer to section 3.7.4.a in the Appeon Migration Guide, "Dynamic transaction object to connection cache mapping", for instructions on how to change the connection cache for a given application.  I copied some instructions from the section for your reference:

Transaction object to connection cache mapping can be dynamically set up or changed by setting or changing the DBMS and DBParm properties of the Transaction object in the application source code.
To set or change the connection cache dynamically, you can code the DBParm property of the Transaction object in this format:
SQLCA.DBParm=“CacheName=‘ASEConnectionCache1’”
“ASEConnectionCache1” can be replaced by the name of the connection cache you want to use for the Transaction object.
To set or change the database type dynamically, you can code the DBMS property of the Transaction object using this format:
SQLCA.DBMS = "odb-asa9"
The value of the DBMS property should be set based on the database type.  (The section has given a table how what the DBMS property should be for each supported database type).

Regards,
Julie

On #2, I tried this but when I ran the following SQL right after changing the Cachename, it displayed the same database name (in a messagebox) as before I switched.

select db_name()
into :ls_dbname
from user_table
using sqlca;

It does not appear that it is working.  Any ideas what else I should try?
