Is there some tutorial on how to establish the connection to our
Advantage Database and Table via Borland Data Provider

Trying to start an ASP project.
I just don't understand the Borland Data Provider

TIA

the easiest start is Delphi2005 itself: add ADS to the connection
repository, add also a valid connection. Then a table list will appear.
Drag a table and drop it to a form...it'll create a bdpConnection and
fill it with the correct connection string and it'll also create other
needed components (bdpDataReader and AFAIK also a Datasource). Then you
can bind the data source to a datagrid.
There's still some more work needed in order to get it filled - you
should check out the borland examples. There's no difference between
the Borland BDP connections and the ADS BDP.

no...to the connection repository. In D2005 there's a window with
following tabs on the upper right side:
- project manager
- model view
- data explorer

Open the data explorer. If you have installed ADAC (including BDP),
'Advantage' should be there as a provider as well. Right click on
'Advantage'->'Add a new connection'. Follow the dialog. After that,
just take a table out of that connection and place it on a winform.
then add a datasource and a datagrid to the same form.
the double click on the form (creates a winform_load procedure) and add
following code:

procedure TWinForm.TWinForm_Load(sender: System.Object; e:
System.EventArgs);
var
tablename: string;
begin
tablename:='biolife';
BdpDataAdapter1.Fill(DataSet1,tablename);
DataGrid1.DataSource:=DataSet1;
DataGrid1.DataMember:=tablename;
end;

Okay I found the Project Manager
and the tab data explorer

and Advantage is there.

Only problem is: What do I put for the Connection Name.

I put one of the Aliases from the ADS.INI file

and clicked the tables and got this error:

"Connection Open failed, Error 6420; The 'discovery' process for the
Advantage Database Server failed.
Unable to connect to the Advantage Database Server, axServerConnect.

Thanks

there are tons of solutions in the help file to prevent 6420. Just
check it and follow the suggestions step by step.
