I have an event scheduled to run 'hot' backups every night
but it only runs every other night.
BEGIN
DECLARE day_of_week VARCHAR(9);
DECLARE backup_stmt LONG VARCHAR;
SET day_of_week = substr(dayname(today()),1,3);
SET backup_stmt = 'BACKUP DATABASE DIRECTORY '||
'''C:\\Clindex\\Backups\\' ||
day_of_week || ''' '||
'TRANSACTION LOG TRUNCATE ';
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE backup_stmt;
END
I have the recurrence set to run every day of the month.

There is a posting by "George" in the sybase.public.sqlanywhere.general
newsgroup. If this is another post by you, please post to a single
newsgroup and wait for a response. The newsgroups are run on a
voluntary basis and responses should not be expected for 24 to 48 hours
(though often responses are sooner than that).

It was created graphically in Sybase Central. There is no
create event to my knowledge. Or is there someplace I can
look to find it?

Please always post the version and build number of SQLAnywhere that you
are using.

If you are using 9.x, then from Sybase Central you can right-click the
event, choose "Copy", and then in Notepad or a real text editor you can
paste the event (which will paste the SQL code for the event).

Otherwise, you can unload just the database's schema (Sybase Central's
Unload Database or dbunload -n) and search for the CREATE EVENT
statement in the file that gets created (reload.sql by default).

Hope this helps,
