I have been using the Appeon product for nearly 6 months and for the most part
really feel that it's a great product. I have modified my entire application
per the performance tuning guide. My windows now open twice as fast as they did
initially. However, the application itself takes entirely too long to load -
approximately 6 seconds. Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?
Regards!

What's the size of your application?  Did you deploy the application with Pure-JavaScript or Appeon Xcelerator?

You can consider to take the Appeon Xcelerator deployment option provided in the 2.8 Enterprise Edition, which usually promises 3-10 faster performance than Pure-JavaScript.  Please contact your sales manager on how to get the Enterprise Edition.

We does have several suggestions in improving the application-load performance:
1) Before deploying the application, make sure the Performance Boosters in the Performance tab are enabled.
2) Make sure the IE caches the downloaded file so it does not need to download the files again.
3) Do not do the operations of connecting to database and data retrieve while opening the main window.  Instead, do them after the main window is opened.
4) Downsize the image in the main window to reduce the file size to be downloaded.
5) Reduce the usage of Embedded SQL
6) Reduce the usage of global functions.

Regards,
Julie

Thank you, Julie.
I am using the Pure-JavaScript version. The application is rather small, only 3
MB. I have already done most of the items that you mentioned in your response
and it really did speed performance significantly. Once the application has
loaded, it zings along nicely. However, the initial load is still slow. I do
have an image in the main window. I will remove it to see if that's causing the
issue.
Thanks,
Kristi

I have removed the image from the first window, but the application still loads
very slowly. Any other suggestions? I have researched upgrading to the
Enterprise version, but it is simply not in the budget for the moment. I am
using the iis redirector, could this be causing the problem?

Kristi

Kristi -

I would be happy to look at the code and see if there is anything in the
open event that is causing it to open slowly.

Have you considered popping up a splash screen that displays as the system
loads?

Is it only slow the first time or does it run slow every time?

Are you loading data on the client?

Hi Kristi,

If possible, can you please your case to me (my email address)? We will try
to help figure out why it is slow.

Besides, what's the network connection when you try to load the application?
Network speed does affect the initial load of the application.

Regards,
Julie
