Hello - on a Treo device, when attempting to connect to a
channel (previous setup /tested on M-Biz web admion logon)
that points to a secure site, my M-biz client (Treo / Palm)
displays a message:

"...The server vending http://somthing.somewhere / presented
a bad ssl certificate...."

- on the M-biz web management logon for the channel, I can
view / accept the certificate and browse the site without
issues-

- on the palm builtin web browser connection, I get an
intermediate warning message that it is an 'unsigned
certificate', do you want to continue - yes, loads the page
-

- the M-biz channel never gives me the option to accept or
not the 'unsigned' certificate - it just says it is a bad
cert -

- any ideas? -

chris o.

Chris,

Is this a server that you have control over? If so, and you can get the
matching client cert for the cert that is on the server and put it in the
avantgoserver\conf\trusted.txt file. This is most often seen when a
customer has their own cert authority and is generating their own certs.

If that is not the case here, and the server is really serving an invalid
cert, then I don't think you can do anything about it. The reason is
because the server is crawling lots of pages at one time and doesn't have a
mechanism to to stop and interactively ask the user something. I will check
to see if there is a way to get the server to automatically accept untrusted
certs.

Chris...

No, the root certificate of any site you want to view over SSL must be in
the trusted.txt file, there is no way for the user to modify this it must be
done by the server admin. I think some versions also have a bug where they
don't recgonize self signed certificates.
