Hi

I've developed a web application (servlets, jsp pages) that retrieves data
from a remote ASA DB through jdbc connections. The web application is
installed on Tomcat Application Server. ASA runs on a machine in which a
Visual Basic application runs too. The Visual Basic application connects
via odbc to the same DB the web application connects to. When the Visual
Basic application is stopped my web application runs properly, accessing
remote DB with no problems. When my web application is stopped the Visual
Basic application works properly too, but when both applications run, one
of them hangs up: sometimes the web application hangs up, sometimes the
Visual Basic application.
I don't know what the problem could be, I can say that my web application
reads data from a table that is used by Visual Basic application for insert
operations and that I didn't use particular configuration parameters in
order to set DB service (I've used the default parameters). Please help
me!!! :-(
Thank you in advance,
Andrea

As a starting point try connecting from DBISQL when the system appears to be
hanging and call the sa_conn_info() system procedure. This will show you
whether or not one of the applications is blocked on the other.

Hi Robert!

I've noticed that the DB engine running on the remote server is dbeng6.exe
instead of dbsrv6.exe. Could it be a reason of the hanging? Dbeng6 is the
engine associated to Personal DB Server that doesn't support network
connections to DB!Is it true in Adaptive Server Anywhere 6.0.4.3799 (the
product we are using)?

Thank you in advance,
Andrea

You are correct that the Personal Server does not support network
connections.
