Hi...!

Using PowerBuilder 7.0 and I have a situation I don't know how to solve:

Within a form, I have a single line edit control which is blank at the
begining. I have a command button which is disabled at the begining.

How can I do if I want to have the command button enabled as soon as the
single line edit have at least one character typed in, and disabled if it is
empty? I can't use the modified event on the single line edit, because I
want to enable the command button as soon as something is typed into the
single line edit... I don't want to wait until the user press enter or
accept the value typed into the single line in any other form.

Any idea?

Thank you..!

Alex

Hi Alex,

You need to declare a new user event and map it to pbm_enchange

...or you can create an external source datawindow and use the
editchanged event.

Boris,

I already got the desired effect placing some code within the single line
edit control's pbm_keyup event.

Anyway, which is the diference between the pbm_enchange and pbm_keyup
events?

Where are all those pbm events documented?

Thank you..!

Alex.

pbm_enchange corresponds to WIN32 en_change notification message. The
events are documented by MS on MSDN site

http://tinyurl.com/cykw5
or
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/shellcc/platform/commctls/editcontrols/editcontrolreference/editcontrolmessages/en_change.asp

The difference is that en_change may fire when the data is changed
without using the keyboard. Perhaps right-click paste..
