I am trying to connect to the ASA agdb.db database, using the ADO.NET
samples that come with SQL Anywhere 9.

The error is ASA .NET Data Provider: Specified database file is already in
use (-816). I am trying to connect to a remote agdb.db file.

Please let me know if you have any ideas on the problem here.

Thanks,

Richard Hein

What are your connection parameters for the ADO connection? The most likely
explanation is that your connection parameters are trying to start a new
database engine using the agdb.db file that is already running on an
existing database engine/server with a different server and/or database
name.

Hi Rob,

Thanks for the info. - you're right. I tried to connect based on the
filename, rather than set up the ODBC connection properly and pointing to
the server and port.

It looks like the problem is resolved now, thanks for the help!

Cheers,

Richard Hein
