I have a datastore which the Update() function returns 1, meaning successful.
But I do not see the record in the table. I want to get the SQLSyntax of the
datastore by which it updates. Since SQLPreview event of a datastore is not
accessible, I hear some experts advices to create a userobject inherited from
datastore, whose SQLPreview can be accessed. But I wonder how to inherit a
userobject from a datastore. I would appreciate if anyone can give me a sample
code.

Thank you in advance!

kim,

another option could be to review all the database interactions from your
application by turning on the trace for the database connection. just prefix
the dbms attribute of your transaction object with 'trace '. pb will write
all database activity to a log file that you can review without having to
write additional code or running the app in debug mode.

Kim;

You can inherit from most of the base "system" classes in PB. In this
case, create a new PB Object of type "Standard Class". The next dialog that
appears is a list of those types in the System Class area. Scroll through
the list until you see DataStore - highlight it and press OK. You now have a
sub-class (descendant) of DS. When you save that new UO, you have a new
class type that can be instantiated at run time

In your PB application, replace the declaration (DataStore myVar) with
the class name of the UO you just created above. Then any script on any of
the methods of the UO are ready to use!

Hope that helps.

Regards ... Chris

It would be a good idea to check if there are some changes in your datastore
when you call update. Use ModifiedCount() and deletedCount() to get this
information.

You can also insert a datastore into your window/uo/nvo by using
Insert->Object->Datastore from the menu. The events of the datastore will
now be accesible from your window/uo/nvo under the non-visual object list
tab.
