Maybe there is a critical bug in Sybase SQL Anywhere Studio 9.02. We are
using the webservice function in the database. This works fine for most of
our customers.

But one of our customers had configured the settings of internet explorer to
use a proxy server. In this case the database crashes without any notices
while WebServiceRequest.

The sevice works with request over 127.0.01.

LOCAL Internet Explorer SETTINGS:

Dialog: Local Area Network (LAN) Settings.

Proxy Server:

"Use a proxy server" Value = TRUE

"Bypass proxiserver for local adresses" Value = TRUE

Any ideas what might be going wrong?

If you run the database server with the -z -o switches do you see any TCP/IP
error messages in the diagnostics log? Is there any error messages reported
by the database server during the crash?

Please open a case with iAnywhere Technical Support submitting a sample
database and the exact steps to reproduce the crash.

You can open a case either directly via your technical support contact
or via CaseXpress (http://case-express.sybase.com/)

Thank you in advance,

You can open a case either directly via your technical support contact
or via CaseXpress (http://case-express.sybase.com/)

Please include the OS and version of the platform both the proxy server
and the database server are running on, as well as the name and version
of the proxy server itself.

Thank you in advance,

I've tried reproducing this using the setup that you've mentioned
(IE through a proxy to an ASA webservice), but have not been able
to see any issue. The log output does not help unfortunately.

We're going to need more information about
- what proxy server is being user?
- what is the web service doing?

My guess is that there is a query in your web service routine that
is causing the problem? If you can reproduce the crash, can you
try to isolate the statement that is the problem? - you can do this
by using the Stored Procedure Debugger (within Sybase Central), or
even just put
message "----<some stuff>"
in your procedure and then look at the console output.

Hi. We have web-service (html):
CREATE SERVICE "SCV_Proc" TYPE 'RAW' AS call MacroSQL_DoAction();

Client try looks information via internet on this service (any browser over unix proxy Squid version 2.5.STABLE6) do server ASA 9.0.2.3221 crash and there is no information from log or breaking point for procedure from debbuger.

I offer iAnywhere to do web publication for demo server ASA, with open html RAW services and xml SOAP services. We and our clients be able testing this server and you see all appearing errors. You possible organize next scheme work:1. Site iAnywhere, registration page:

a. user choose type test (HTML, XML)

b. detect browser, ip and other information

c. user indicate proxy (if proxy already and user has information on proxy)

2. you do registration information in database and user redirect in necessary ASA web-service

This is helping you reproduce and correct any errors, what we can not reproduce on publication web-service in internet.
