Hi....

I have this accessibility problem with appeon installation behind firewall.
I cant seem to access the application from external IP address.

My technical specs are such as:
- Appeon 3 Trial Version
- Installed on Windows XP, RAM 512MB
- External IP address assigned to the machine is 203.120.19.165
- Internal IP address 172.168.88.143
- Configure NAT 203.120.19.165 to 172.168.88.143
- Jaguar listener 172.168.88.143 port 80

Attached document is my firewall and jaguar setting.

Is there any limitation with trial version that it does not work with
firewall security ?
Or is it because of the firewall setting is not correctly done?

Appreciate any help available...!

Thks,
Herman

Hi Herman,

Appeon does not set limitation on the trial version for working with the firewall security. The problem you met may be caused by incorrect EAServer or firewall settings.

Please take the following steps to locate/solve the problem:

1.       Assign the listener port to something different from 80, for example, 8083.  This is to make sure that the port does not conflict with the default IIS port.

2.       Use the IP address (172.168.88.143) of the computer as the Host name of the listener.  This is required to allow EAServer to connect from behind the firewall.

3.       Try to access the EAServer home page with the external IP address, such as using http://203.120.19.165:8083/index.html.  This is to make sure that the EAServer is accessible from behind the firewall.  If the page cannot be open, it means that the connection problem is a non-Appeon issue, and you must check again the firewall and EAServer settings.

4.       Ping 172.168.88.143 at the computer 203.120.19.165.  If the pinging is not successful, recheck the firewall and DNS settings.

5.       Redeploy the application using the new EAServer listener settings.

6.       Access the Web application from the external address and remember to add the “/” at the end of the URL of the Web application, such as using the following URL: http://203.120.19.165:8083/appeon_acf_demoax/.

If the problem is not resolved, please let me know whether step 3 is successful, and which type of firewall you are using.

Regards
Sally Li

Hi Yoyo Yong,

The problem you met is a non-appeon issue. I suggest that you refer to the following URL to get more ideas on the problem, or post your question in the forum and get the help from Sybase:
