Hi

I cannot get Powerbuilder 10 to connect to Websphere 6. I
took the example PB9 code supplied by Sybase
(http://www.sybase.com/detail?id=1024977) and migrated it
through to PB10.2.1.

The first (obvious) problem is a bug where, when you come to
set the IBM JDK Location in Powerbuilder's System Options,
the JRE Location entry is corrupted (it gets truncated and a
'j' is stuck on the beginning). I directly edited the
registry to set the correct value.

Afterwards, when running the application, I could load the
IBM Java VM without a problem. After that, I pressed the
"Connecting to the EJB Server" button, and got

Exception raised: Failed to connect to the EJB
server.com/ibm/ejs/ras/Tr

Now if I run the app a second time, the Java VM stays loaded
from the first time, and I get a different error message at
the EJB Server connection point:

Exception raised: Failed to connect to the EJB
server.com/ibm/websphere/naming/WsnInitialContextFactory

Anyone got any suggestions ???

Paul

The abbreviated messages typically indicate that the JVM is having
trouble loading the class because of classpath options, but beyond
that I haven't touched this combination of products.

assuming you're using JRE/JDK 1.4 and not higher...

the com/ibm/websphere/naming/WsnInitialContextFactory cannot be located
in the classpath..

in case you're using a relative classpath, remember that the current
directory is the one where the pbl resides that holds the application
object.

HTH,

Ben
