I am having problem running Administration Console.

1. I selected Satar->All Programs->RFID Anywhere->Administration Console.
2. Then RFID Anywhere page is displayed. But immediately a "File Download:
Open/Save/Cancel" window is displayed with the following details: Name:
menu.aspx, Type ASP.NET Server Page, 4.97 KB, From: localhost.
3. When I click on "Open", the page opened in Visual Studio editor. I have
no option but to close it.
4. Once I clolsed the VS editor, nothing can be done, as the the fields User
Name, Password and Domain have no place to enter anything.

I have installed RFID Anywhere 2.0 on Windows XP Tablet PC version. In
Microsoft Newsgroup sites, it was mentioned that the Tablet PC version is a
superset of XP/Prof version.

So what I am missing?

ThanQ...

Shanti:

We haven't done any testing on the Tablet OS, so you will want to install
RFID Anywhere on an XP Professional SP2 machine, which gives all of the OS
functionality RFID Anywhere requires.

You will also want to make sure ASP.NET is correctly installed. Errors with
the Administration Console are usually the result of a bad ASP.NET
installation, so what you would want to do is uninstall the .NET Framework
1.1 and .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 from Add/Remove programs, and reinstall the
.NET Framework and ASP.NET using the detailed installation instructions in
the Getting Started Guide.

Hope this helps,

Matt..

Windows XP Tablet edition is built on top of Windows XP Service Pack 2, but
there are specific additions made to it to support the pen functionality and
to make it easier to use. As Matt mentioned, I would recommend running RFID
Anywhere on a normal Window XP SP2 machine.

I understand why you all recomend normal machines (known routes are always
shorter).

Yes I reinstalled Framework 1.1 SP1 on both an XP/Professional and
XP/Tablet, and....

YES, IT WORKED ON BOTH.

It appears that the sequence of steps in installing original FW 1.1, running
aspnet_regiis.exe and then upgrading to SP1 are important.

I already had Framework 1.1 SP1 and never ran aspnet_regiis.exe earlier on
one machine and on another I followed link provided by Microsoft downloads
site. I think that didn't work. So after uninstalling and re-installing it
worked.

Only thing is, on Tablet PC, when the upgrades were deployed, the Norton was
blocking a Trojon Horse "TransScout" from the rfidanywhere runtime program,
though I set to permit all from this exe program. I don't know why.
