I have a customer who has an old (Version 6?) Advantage license installed on
their server. We are in the process of upgrading them to a new server and
they are unable to locate their license certificate.

Is there anyway for us to reinstall or copy the license information to the
new server without this certificate?

Thanks

David Ray

If the server is running a Windows operating system, you should be able
to do the following to obtain the Serial Number/Validation Code for
reinstallation:

1. Open a DOS prompt
2. Change to your Advantage installation directory. (For version 6,
this would be c:\advantage\, by default.)
3. Run "adsver.exe ads.exe".
The adsver.exe program should return the version of the server, as well
as the serial number and validation code.

Hope this helps!

btw: If you're using ADS 6.2, adsver.exe might be broken;) Then contact
your support provider to get an updated version.
