Hello all,

because I am contemplating the upgrade of our 5.7 MBusiness server from 5.7
to 6.0, I am really interested to see what devices the new version supports.
I havent tested the trial yet, so havent seen the device list.

I know that the support for Palm and PocketPC/WindowsMobile devices was
always there.
Also, the Win32 (Windows 2000/XP) has been added some time ago.

But what about the small client support, like the symbian running gsm
phones?
Some time ago these were running the Web version of the client , but I am
interested in the Application Edition platforms.

If not now, then at least does anyone know what devices might be supported
in the near future (6 months say) ?

thanks,
Marcin

Symbian isn't a supported platform with M-Business Application Edition (or
any Enterprise edition) in the current release. From what I understand,
support for Symbian in the M-Business Enterprise product is being looked at
for an upcoming release. AvantGo released support for Symbian some time
ago.

Thats great to hear.
I realise that Mbuss App Edition is not supported n Symbian, but its good to
hear that the subject is not dead, and is looked at for future releases
(possibly).

More and more small phone devices are based on Symbian mainly due to Nokia
market share. Because these devices are often subsidized by GSM providers
(sign a 12 or 24 month plan and get the phone for 1$ for example), this is
an interesting platform to target.

thanks,
Marcin

Marcin,

Are these Symbian Series 60 devices? What about Series 80 (93xx
communicators)?

Thanks,

Chris...

I was thinking about cheaper phones, cheaper than the nokia communicator.
My question was more general, than regarding a specific symbian device.

cheers,
Marcin

Hi Marcin,

We did not release any new clients with 6.0, but focussed on extending the
same clients to DBCS languages.

Two new clients for MS Smartphone and Symbian Nokia Communicator 9300/9500
devices are slated for end of Q3, 2006.

Thanks, Sg
