I'm placing several of my reports into an AEP. When these reports are
completed, they're stored in a table for user to view. Since some of the
queries could take 20 minutes to run, I was wondering what the consequences
would be if the user initiates the AEP but then terminates the application
that originally launched it? Will the AEP continue to run or not?

Do you mean terminated the application abnormally, or closes it nicely?

If they terminate the application abnormally, yes, the AEP will continue
to run. The server will periodically try to kill that connection, but since
it is busy, it will cary on.

Unless you are starting a new thread in your AEP (possible, but not recommended),
there is no way the user could nicely close the application, because the
process will be waiting for the procedure to complete.

I would recommend writing your own process that runs as a service and does
your reporting. Then you could have an aep interact with that service to
start a report, but the report processing wouldn't be tied to an Advantage
worker thread.
