What is the best way to pass Tabular ResultSet from JBoss EJB to
PowerBuilder 10?

TIA,
Jonathan

Exactly like you are doing with EAServer, not any changes, you can continue
using TabularResults.ResultSet.

Just copy the easclient.jar into the JBOSS_HOME\server\default\lib, after
that you can deploy your jar copying into the
JBOSS_HOME\server\default\deploy

The easclient.jar is in your EAServer\java\lib folder.

Note: Change the Folder name for your real folders name

Hi Alexander,

Thanks very much. I tried doing the copying and the method invocation from
PowerBuilder to JBoss is OK.

Just that the PB proxy is generated with the type java_resultset (even
though the function in EJB is defined as TabularResults.ResultSet
getResult()), which cannot be fed into a datastore directly (using the
Datastore.createFrom(ResultSet)). I also tried modifying the proxy myself
and changed java_resultset to ResetSet but I got a return code -1 for the
createFrom call.

So is there any way that I can manipulate the tabular resetset objects the
same way as I was doing with EAServer CORBA? in which the data type in the
proxy is automatically mapped to the PB ResultSet Type and be fed into a
datastore?

Thanks with rgds,
Jonathan

My recollection, which is dated, is that this won't work because the
EJB Proxy objects don't support properties (well, PBNI in general
doesn't) and some of the Tabular ResultSet classes use public
properties.

Thanks, Jim

Or even if I got the java_resultset returned, how can I get the data back
from the codings within PB?

You can use the method of Java ResultSet on the proxies themselves and
move the data into a datawindow, but AFAIK there is no simple method
to do it all for you ala the CreateFrom() method

Thanks again.

However, another problem is I can't find any useful functions generated in
my java_resultset proxy.

The following are all the functions available for the proxy. I've only got 2
public functions and they both seem to be constructors, which help me
nothing in extracting the data inside.

forward prototypes
private:
function long __get_rows() alias for "R:rows,I"
subroutine __set_rows( long rows) alias for "W:rows,I"
function SampleColumn __get_columns() alias for
"R:columns,[LTabularResults/Column;"
subroutine __set_columns( SampleColumn columns) alias for
"W:columns,[LTabularResults/Column;"

public:
subroutine java_ResultSet() alias for "<init>,()V"
subroutine java_ResultSet( long long_1, SampleColumn SampleColumn_2[])
alias for "<init>,(I[LTabularResults/Column;)V"
end prototypes

Any more hints?

Rgds,
Jonathan

I have used in the pass TabularResults.ResultSet inside JBoss, of course
EJB, and I have called them from EJB Clients (embeded in some JSP/Servlets
pages), and I didn't see any problem, but your explanation make sence, I'll
double check, sounds wear thinking the TabularResults.ResultSet is just an
implementation of org.omg.CORBA.portable.IDLEntity, but is a PowerBuilder
client and surely you are rigth.
