Using PB 10.5, when we call
rte_object.InputFieldInsert(s_field_name) the correct value
is placed in the rte_object for the s_field_name. And if we
view the field names the user can see the correct field
name.

However, an incorrect data value is presented on the
rte_object (rte_object is a datashare with a dw). The
correct value isn't seen on the rte_object until we perform
another RETRIEVE.

Is there a way to present to the user the correct value for
the field when they perform an InputFieldInsert of a field
into the rte control without performing an addtional
RETRIEVE? This is an application that I upgraded to PB10.5.
I deleted the original RTE control off the window and pasted
it (in PB10.5) and the behavior is the same.

I tried to reproduce your problem but I'm having no luck. I ran the
following code:

dw_1.SetTransObject(SQLCA)
dw_1.Retrieve()

rte_1.DataSource ( dw_1 )
rte_1.InputFieldInsert('col_name')

The field I added to the rte control displayed the correct data value
found in the dw control.

Can you reproduce this problem in a smaller application? What build
number of PB 10.5 are you using?

Thanks,

Brad

I wonder if it's a problem with your version. I have the first EBF
installed so I'm not sure if my success has something to do with that.
You could try installing the lastest EBF to see if that fixes the problem.

Try to reproduce the problem in a smaller application to make sure that
there is nothing else influencing your results. If you can reproduce it
in a small application you could send it to me and I can give it a shot.

Good Luck,

Brad
