- I just made a mistake in trying to upgrade my Mbiz server version -

- it was running "6.0 b390 Windows" and tech support said
"MBAnywhereW_6.0.3066" is the latest version and should address issues with
treo 700w devices -

- well, it didn't install very well with several error messages during the
upgrade and then the sysnc server would not start on a reboot - all reported
to tech support -

- tried running the upgrade 3 times then tech support had me to a full
uninstall and go back to the 6.0 b390 Windows version - it finally installed
ok (withou importing existing db) -

- moving the old db into place and restarting it causes problems and the
mbiz slooows to a halt -

- any way to import user data and channel from the old db (version "6.0 b390
Windows") into the fresh installed version of "6.0 b390 Windows" after the
Mbiz install now that the fresh install db is empty of users and channels? -

By "db" do you mean the administration database?
If so, could you simply not shut down the ASA service, copy the old .db
into place, and start the service again?

hello & thanks - no, that didn't seem to work - neither the 'upgraded
version' nor the fresh install of the old m-biz version 'liked' the old db
(the db server would restart as you suggest, but the sync server didn't like
it) - as far as I can tell, all the settings on the upgrade and/or the fresh
install were the same as the original installation -

- tech support has a copy of my db and ran into the same problem, i.e. the
db server would start, but the sync server would terminate -

- this is all because I ran the upgrade from 6.0 b390 to 6.0.3066 on a
running production server - it seems that other m-biz customers are now
running into upgrade problems with the recent release too -

- so, a bizzare process here, but I finally got it to work:

1) completely uninstall m-biz (yes it looses the old bd, users, channels,
and any changes to the system conf files, etc ) - so be sure you have a db
file copy -
2) install the old 6.0 b390 m-biz version as a 'fresh install'
3) stop the db server, copy the od install db into place (a you suggest),
restart the db server but do not do anything else until...
4) run the upgrade to 6.0.3066 which sees the old db of users and channels
and imports them without any errors (this time) and the sync server
restarts!

- I tried lots of other variations before I went this route - tech support
is the one that suggested to first fully remove any versions of m-biz to get
things back running again -

- the pain of resetting secure connections, ssl, and other conf
modifications was less than working with all client users to recreate
channels etc -
