Is there any information on this? I understand that Sybase demonstrated
this at Techwave 2006.

Thx

Yes, it was demonstarted. In particular, three instances were terminated
sequentially and the application kept on a-going. As I remember, first
instance was restarted and fourth was then shut down. No problems.

Other points that I noticed:

(1) SDC was also demonstrated last year. (So Sybase is competing with the
other vendors with dangling attractions.)
(2) There was one cusomer participating in a 6 month test. Sybase was
looking for four more customers for this.
(3) The earliest it will come out is with 15.0.2 (2007Q2?).
(4) Setup is supposed to be easier than with RAC, which Rob referred to as
"really annoying complexity". An Oracle RAC user at the session neither
agreed nor disagreed with the comment.
(5) Primary goal is continuous availability. (Scalability takes second
place?)

I didn't ask, but wonder which platforms will be supported initially. Or
will all be supported?

Yes, the Shared Disk Cluster demo was pretty impressive.
All the keynotes were webcast. You can access them here -

You want the third one in the list.

I tried to register an was rejected. It appears that only the live keynotes
were available. It would have been nice if they were saved for replay.
