Hi all,

I have a VB6 application that uses ALS 8.0 and all the users have Windows XP
Pro SP2 installed.

Sometime, entering the application, it gives this error:

"Run-time error '-2147467259 (80004005)':
Error 7077: The Advantage Database Dictionary cannot be opened.
axServerConnect AdsConnect"

When other users leave close the application the PC giving this error opens
without errors.

I know that ALS has a limit of 5 simultaneous users on a table but don?t
think this is the problem.
Also, as suggested in the help for 7077 errors, I have the reference for the
dictionary with UNC and not a drive letter.

Doen anyone know what is happening ?

Thanks in advance,
Paulo

Paulo,

The 7077 error should be logged in the error log with some additional
errors. These additional errors will give you the exact reason why the
dictionary could not be opened.

It is likely that this is from a conflicting server type setting. If the
other clients have the database opened with remote server, for example, and
this client can not get a remote server connection (or if the dsn is not
configured to attempt one), you will get this error.

Check that the dsn entry only has one server type specified, and that it
matches the type the other clients are using.
