We're about to start looking at using Appeon to convert our 900 odd windows
application for use on the web, but have a few questions..

Does Appeon support client browser regional settings? i.e. Some of our
customers have servers in the UK, but users in Europe; will they be forced
to enter numbers and dates in UK format or will it pick up the regional
settings of the client user instead ?

We have the following structure...

GUI windows that call NVOs that call Legacy C DLLs.

How will this be deployed? i.e. does appeon deploy the NVOs to EAServer and
then does EAServer support calling of Legacy DLLs.

Have thought of a few more questions.. (while still waiting for Appeon to
contact me regarding a trial download)

Does Appeon support storing the session state in a DB ?

Also, does Appeon use a viewstate, and if so, does it support that being
stored in a DB too ?

| Hi,
| Which Appeon 3.1 for PowerBuilder version do you use now?
| Appeon 3.1.1516 or 5.0 for Powerbuilder can support Ie7.
| We suggest you downloading the 14006.3.1.1 EBF from Sybase
| Web site.

What ?

I asked..

Does Appeon support storing the session state in a DB ?

Also, does Appeon use a viewstate, and if so, does it support that being
stored in a DB too ?

>Appeon does use viewstate, and it is stored in the client.

The screen will be partly refreshed when it comes to
refresh parts of the window, like in AJAX.

Hi Adrian,

1. Does Appeon support client browser regional settings?
i.e. Some of our customers have servers in the UK, but
users in Europe; will they be forced to enter numbers and
dates in UK format or will it pick up the regional
settings of the client user instead ?

Reply: Appeon Xcelerator Deployment supports client regional
settings.

2. GUI windows that call NVOs that call Legacy C DLLs.
How will this be deployed? i.e. does appeon deploy the
NVOs to EAServer and then does EAServer support calling
of Legacy DLLs.

Reply: Appeon supports call NVOs including those call Legacy
C DLLS. You can go to Building and Migrating Distributed
Applications (EAServer only) in Appeon Help to get detailed
information on how to deploy NVO application.

So if we don't use the Xcelerator, what regsional settings does it use ? We
have some customers (government clients) that will not allow any downloads
to the client machine, so everything has to be pure browser.

If you don't use Xcelerator, you may find your reginal
settings are also supported, such as the time zone or
currency sign.

But, we strongly recommend you use Xcelerator because it
serves the regional settings better than
pure-javascript(the details are too many to be discussd
here. I can elaborate if you insist), and it only requires
you to download almost the same size files as that of
pure-javescripts, just like a small Flash.

As for zero-installation, Appeon can achieve this and I
believe you could understand that something more or less
will be unavoidablly downloaded when you open whatsoever
webpages. Please kindly note that.

If you are using NVO to retrieve data that retrieve using C DLL I would
suggest using EAS components for this and have your C/S call to EAS. Then
deploy with Appeon. This will leave the DLL's on the server and the Broser
will make calls back to EAS for data through your NVO.
