Hi There,

I just downloaded the Trial version for ADS 8.10.0.2 and I'm trying to
run applications that uses the 7.10.0.14 client engine and components (mix
with xBase, Clipper, Delphi and .NET). None of these applications seem to
run on the new server. Furthermore, the architect 7.10.0.0 fails with the
discovery process when i try to use the Advantage Management Utility.
If I use the Architect 8.10 it works just fine.

Do I need to re-compile and re-install all my apps using the 8.10
clients? Or am I doing something wrong?I remember I was able to use
6.12 applications/engine on an ADS Server 7.10 for example.

Thanks,
Marcelo

Sorry, the client engine is 7.10.0.0 not 7.10.014 as mentioned before.

Marcelo,
The 7.10 client should work properly with the 8.10 server without a
problem. Perhaps we can be more helpful if you can provide us more
information. What error code(s) do you receive when attempting to run
one of these 7.1 clients with the 8.1 server? (You may find it easiest
to focus on using just one application, like Advantage Data Architect,
then try using the others only after you have one of them working
properly.) I hope this helps!

Hi Jed,

This what ARC returns me when i try to use the Management Utility.

---------------------------
Advantage Data Architect
---------------------------
Error 6420: The 'discovery' process for the Advantage Database Server
failed. Unable to connect to the Advantage Database Server. axServerConnect
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Does that give you enough info?

Thanks,
Marcelo

I think I solved my problem by uninstalling and re-installing it.
It seems to be working now.

Thanks for the help Jed!
