Is there any way to run Windows Recovery Concole to repair a
corrupted Windows installation when iAnywhere Afaria
Security Manager disk encryption is installed? I have my
password for Afaria and can get as far as choosing a Windows
start-up mode under f8, but I think I would need to access
the Windows XP cd to start Recovery Console.

My company installed iAnywhere Afaria disk encryption
software on all laptops for added security, but they don't
have anyone yet who can troubleshoot problems with Afaria.

On my laptop, Windows detected an error in the hibernation
file and ran chkdisk automatically fixing some directory
entries then booted into Windows XP. However, an error
window repeatedly popped up stating "The file or directory
C:\$Extend\$UsnJrnl is corrupt and unreadable. Please run
the chkdsk utility."

I attempted to run chkdsk from within Windows, but received
a message that it could not complete the request.

My company's support staff suggested that I restart the
laptop and select "Last Known Good Configuration" or "Safe
Mode" and then set chkdsk to run a complete scan upon
reboot.

I can reboot, enter my Afaria password and select a Windows
startup mode. However, the computer blue screens after
loading up to mup.sys and Gernuwa.sys files. in any Safe
Mode, Last Known Good Configuration or Start Windows
Normally.

Thank you in advance for any advise!
Regards,
Roger
