i have the old

Duplicate or partial transaction log

error message showing up.

i'm on an old windows NT server.

from the RUN option i enter dbtran d:\d-base\op1030000.log
and it creates a sql file but i'm not making a connection to
a begining off set and ending offset.

if i run this command dbtran d:\d-Base\op103000.gol nul -y
the DOS window opens and closes but no SQL file is created.

i'm not seeing a read out like this on anything

C:\Files\SQLAny\REPSS>dbtran sales.log nul -y
Transaction log "sales.log" starts at offset 0000116339
Transaction log ends at offset 0000128158

per the information on this page.

any thoughts or help would be highly appreciated.

You would do better posting in the
sybase.public.sqlanywhere.replication newsgroup.

It always helps if you type the *exact* commands you used; e.g.,
"op103000.gol" has one less zero, and ".gol" :)

dbtran is not going to hold open a window; try opening a "cmd" window
and then running it, or use a batch file with a PAUSE.

I don't think it's going to create a file if you specify nul... but
methinks you just want the display.

Did my suggestions not help?

Thanks for the response Breck

Yes the DOS Prompt idea worked great and I was able to see
the offsets

I just had a spinal block done Monday for 4 herniated
disc’s in my neck so I was still sorta dopped up. And
when I read back what I posted I slapped myself in the
forhead.

anyhooooooo

if you can offer any other suggestions that would be
wonderful. Since I can’t seem to post to the
sybase.public.sqlanywhere.replication

I found the spot I think is causing my “duplicate or
partial transaction log” error but I’m not sure how to
fix the problem now.
The attached GIF shows the returned information on the
offsets

06110602. log ends at 2200807147 11/06/2006 11:04
06110603 log starts at 2200813138 11/06/2006 12:06

I have missing data I believe..

What would one do for this type of issue?

What patch version of SQL Any 5.x? I just double checked and the 5.5.05
version of dbtran definitely displays the offset info:

D:\sqlany50>win32\dbtran sademo.log
Transaction log "sademo.log" starts at offset 0000235826
Transaction log ends at offset 0000237037

I'm also copying this response to the SQL Remote newsgroup. I'm not sure why
the web interface isn't letting you create a new topic, but like Breck I use
a newsreader. In my case I find Outlook Express is sufficient.

Thanks Robert,

I'll have to try the news reader method.. i did get it to
work if you read my posting to Breck.

if you have any thoughts on what i can be done to fix what
looks like missing data to me that would be wonderful..
