I am having trouble with using Advantage for .Net with Delphi 2006. Any
help would be much appreciated. Short of a new computer, any reasonable
suggestions will be tried.

After placing an AdsDataAdapter on a Form and double-clicking I get this
error Message:

---->Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I have done these things without further success:

I have used the GacUtil as follows after this error:
gacutil /i advantage.data.provider.dll

Tried right clicking over the DLL under references and checking CopyLocal

Uninstalled both ADAC and DataProvider and removed all references in
ApplicationSettings.XML

Also removed references using RegEdit.

Then Reinstalled both.

Both times I needed to add the components manually to to pallette in Delphi.

This is the first time I have used Borland Delphi 2006 for .Net with
Advantage, and have only just started with .NET so help me with any mistakes
I might be making.

Thank you,
Scott Cooper

Hi Scott,

I believe the Advanatage .NET Provider designers link to and require Visual
Studio assemblies, which is why you are getting this error.

If you are developing a .NET Winforms or ASP.NET application in Delphi 2006,
the current solution is the Advantage BDP provider, which utilizes Borland-specific
designers for the design time interface, but still uses the Advantage .NET
Data Provider for data access.

If you are developing a VCL Forms application, the TDataSet descendant components
can be used.

The other alternative if you want to stick with using the Advantage .NET
Provider directly is just to enter the SQL statement properties yourself,
as opposed to using the desginer.
