Hi ,
I am using PB10.5 build ,5048 , as soon I try to open a datawindow at design
time PB eats up all the memory of the laptop and finally gives "
"R6025 Pure Vital VC++ Function call" ..

Is it because Sybase has worked for refactoring of a datawindow after Kim
coded datawindow.

Van

You need to open a case with Sybase tech support. You're particular
situation is not particularly common, otherwise the forums would be
flooded with such messages. Sybase tech supports needs to see a
reproduceable case so they can track down the problem.

Not really. I don't have the problem, and so I can't provide them
with a reproduceable test case.

You log cases via CaseXpress

http://case-express.sybase.com/cx/cx.stm

You'll need a support contract to open a case, otherwise you'll need
to report it as a bug.

If you do opt to report it as a bug, please ensure that you read and
understand the service levels that are displayed in the Important
Message. If this issue requires more attention, you really want to
pursue a proper technical support case. To do so, go to
http://www.sybase.com/contactus/support for details on how to contact
your local support centre.

Adam / Bruce
Well here are the steps to get such an error inPB10.5
1 ) Datawindow object of grid type
2 ) make property as column moving =FALSE at design time .
3 ) Edit the source by right clicking the object from the system tree in
powerbuilder.
4 )
column(band=detail id=x
column(band=detail id=y
column(band=detail id=z
Instead change the order of the above 3 lines & try to assign interchange
x,y,z numbers randomly. This is irrespective of the datatypes.

5 ) From the constructor event of the dw control , play with second & fifth
parameter
this.of_SetResize(TRUE)
this.inv_resize.of_Register ("emp_fname", 0, 0, 50, 50)
this.inv_resize.of_Register ("emp_lname", 100, 0, 50, 50)
6) Run the application , PFC will perform his job perfectly.Try this 3/4
times.
7 ) Finally you will come to the conclusion that your PowerBuilder is not
able to open any DATAWINDOW OBJECT at design time and produces
R6025 Pure Vital C++ function error .
8 ) Re-installation after uninstallation does not solves the problem .

Regards , Van & Good Luck .

Philip ,
Earlier I was having PB10.0 then I reinstalled it
PB10.5 was okay and later playing with the DW object , such error was
discovered.
I have no option to format that machine and re-install once more.
I have already tried to un-install PB10.5 and re-install on the different
folder but no positive results were gain .

Regards, Van

No one in the forum is going to be able to fix this error. It has to get
into engineering to debug and correct. You may be able to find a
workaround that avoids the call sequence that causes this error but that
may be difficult to do.

I believe Phillip was pulling your leg.

As has been recommended several times, you need to open a case with
Sybase on this. We're well beyond the point when other end users can
help you out, and that's what the newsgroups are for.

Thats okay .
Nobody will fix the bug in the forum and also it is okay that Phillip was
pulling my leg.
But I think this is not the correct time to do that , Lodging a complaint
log to the Case Express will not immediately solve my problem
They may take few months to fix that if reproduced by them ,
And ofcourse it is not a joke in the forum where people like me come and
gets their legs pulled.

Never mind , it is a sybase forum anywhere anything can happen
I am still satisfied that few people are atleast replying,.

Best Regards , Van .

Thanks to all . It has been solved by me
Delete the entry for DataWindow under the registry key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sybase\PowerBuilder\10.5\Layout\Default
PB will rebuild it automatically and fixes the problem for Pure Vital C++
Function .

Since you now have steps to reproduce, you should communicate this to
Sybase. This is an user community forum and *not* a channel to Sybase.
Here are the instructions:

You'll probably need to contact Technical Support to get this issue
resolved. Within North America, you can reach Technical Support by
calling 1-800-8SYBASE. If you are located outside of North America, you
can find the contact information for your local Sybase Support Center by
going to the Sybase home page at http://www.sybase.com, clicking on the
"Support" link at the top of the page, and then choosing "Support
Centers" from the left hand frame.

You can always report a bug for free by visiting CaseXpress at
http://casexpress.sybase.com/cx/cx.stm. When submitting calls through
CaseXpress, please make sure to give an accurate description of the
steps you take to reproduce the bug, and include any files that may be
needed (database, source code) to reproduce the problem.
