Summary: Appointments/meeting times in device calendars are
off by the OneBridge Server's GMT offset.
Product Release: OneBridge Mobile Groupware
Product Version: 5.5

Appointments/meeting times in mobile device calendars are
off by the OneBridge Server's GMT offset.

Microsoft has released a patch that includes updates to the
2007 DST (daylight saving time) calendar for Windows XP SP2
and Windows Server 2003. On December 12, 2006, this patch
will be released through Windows Update, Automatic Updates,
and WSUS.

If this patch is applied to a Windows Server that is:
1. Running in a North American time zone
2. Running a OneBridge Server component (either the Sync
Server or an Adapter/Listener)

then a sync that occurs after the update is applied may
cause the appointment/meeting times in device calendars to
be off by the OneBridge Server's GMT offset. The entire
calendar year is affected by this problem. For example,
devices connecting to a OneBridge Server configured for
Mountain Time (GMT -7) would display all appointments 7
hours early.

All currently supported versions of OneBridge are affected,
including 4.2, 5.0, and 5.5.

iAnywhere is working on the necessary changes in order to
make OneBridge compatible with this new update. A patch will
be released as soon as possible. Until a patch is released,
OneBridge customers should not apply the 2007 DST update.

If you already applied this update and users' calendars were
negatively affected by it, you can follow these steps to
correct the problem:

1. Uninstall the Microsoft 2007 DST update from all
OneBridge Server components by following these steps:
- From Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, locate the update
called "Update for Windows Server 2003 (KB928388)". Note:
You may need to check the "Show Updates" checkbox to see it.
- Highlight the update and click Remove.
- After this patch is removed, any new emails, appointments,
or tasks should sync properly.

2. If any users synced during the time this Windows update
was installed, the OneBridge Administrator will need to
"Refresh Data" on the affected users (forcing a full sync
for those users) by following these steps:
- Download the ClearSyncStatus utility.
- Save it into the OneBridge bin folder (normally C:\Program
Files\Extended Systems\OneBridge Sync Server\Bin).
- Open a command prompt and change to this folder.

3. For each affected user, run "clearsyncstatus /r /u ",
where is the name that appears in the OneBridge Log Viewer's
synchronization log. After this is done, the next time the
user syncs, it will re-sync the affected items from the
Server to the device. If the user created any Appointments
or Tasks on the device during the time the Microsoft update
was installed, they will need to manually modify the
affected appointments.

WARNING: Do NOT use the "improved" GUI
ClearSyncStatusImproved utility to clear out the information
for affected users, as that utility clears out more
information for each user than desired. For example, each
user's LiveConnect information will be cleared if you use
the "improved" GUI ClearSyncStatusImproved utility, which
would force the users to re-register for Live Connect.

Customers with all OneBridge Server components located in
non-North American time zones will not be affected.

Windows 2000 has passed the end of mainstream support from
Microsoft and will not be receiving an update without an
Extended Support Hotfix Agreement. OneBridge customers still
running on Windows 2000 who receive a 2007 DST update from
Microsoft should follow the same steps described above.

A OneBridge patch was released during Feb 2007 to make
OneBridge compatible with the new extended Daylight Saving
Time period. Updates for both mobile device clients and
server components are required.
