OK, where is the solution?
All I could find is two 'please don't cross-post' scoldings.

Just recently you got a reponse in .database. It would certainly help
everyone - you included - if you posted with the same identity. The fact
that you are asking this question should highlight why these independent
postings are problematic.

'KLM' is just a reader, not the poster. My point was, it
would help if instead of just saying 'don't cross-post',
that you also say where the question is answered. Some
folks do this, others not.
Believe it or not some people read these newsgroups looking
for answers to questions they may have had in the past or
may be able to use in the future, without an urgent current
need. Two or three recursive answers saying 'don’t cross
post' do not help. JFFT. KLM

True enough. But as one of the people who answers a lot of these questions,
if I have to go and track down every place somebody crossposted it in order
to answer it then I'll simply stop answering the questions. Would that
help?

No. If people would just post in one place that would be
best.
Even if they post in two, we could find it. It's when they
place in three that we get frustrated.
But if the response is 'don't cross post', then someone has
just seen two posts, so they should know where the first one
is?
Maybe. Just so there is an answer somewhere.
End-Of-Thread.

Sure I've seen it before, along with a couple of hundred other
messages that are no longer viewable because I have show unread
messages on. Frankly, I'm not going to take the time to go search for
it so I can post the cross-references in my response to the
cross-posts. Not unless someboday paid me to do that. How much money
do you have available?
