Hi,

what are you trying to achieve?
- Are the PalmOS device synchronizing via HotSync/PC?
- How do you want to run the packet? As an MSI on the PC or via Pylon
Anywhere for upgrading the client?
...

Kind regards,

Dietrich

Hi D

Palm T/X, Pylon is installed/syncing via Hotsync/pc today, and if there is a
solution to not install HotSync on every pc it would have been great.
Perhaps from a smarcard?

Every user have a pc, but no Hotsync installed, we can not count on that
they can sync over the air. (In the future they willl be able to sync over
wireless lan.)

So i think the question is, do they really need Hotsync to install pylon on
the palms?

Does this clear out things better? =)

Hi Bo,

beside the installation via PC, and the synchronization via HotSync, you
have two alternatives.

A.) OTA (Over the air)
Using the browser on the PDA, the user can open the URL http://<Pylon
Anywhere server>/install . This will lead him to the download of the
Pylon Anywhere client.
For PalmOS devices this is useful, when the user only synchronize via
GPRS or WiFi and you don't care about downloading a 1.3kB big installer.

B.) Memory card / Standalone Install
Using the Admin Console, you can generate a standalone install for any
support PDA. Simply open the Profile "Client Install/Deployment", click
on the button "Generate Standalone Install..." and following the
instruction on the new dialog. At the end you will have an installer for
any plattform, that was selected in the Profile "Client
Install/Deployment". In the subfolder "Palm" of the newly create
directory you will find a file "SyncClient_Palm.prc". This file could be
simply copied to the memory card and used for the installation directly
on the PalmOS device.
For PalmOS devices this is useful, when the user only synchronize via
GPRS or WiFi and you don't want to download 1.3kB for every
installation. Make sure that before synchronizing you have to enter the
user-ID under the settings of the Pylon Anywhere client.

Kind regards,

Dietrich
