ASA 9.02
When I attempt to open a local database using Sybase Central or DBISQL, I
get an error message "Connection Error: NamedPipes requires a server name"
SQL state 08001, Error code = -832

Connection parameters
User=
Password=***
DSN=ST32
LINKS=all

The DSN referenced in the ODBC has a user DBA and no network protocol's
checked. The same settings work fine on other computers in the company.

DBISQLC will open the local database fine; however, Sybase Central and
DBISQL give the above error.

I have uninstalled the application and Sybase but still get the same
results.

Where could these erroneous Connection Parameters come from?

Thanks for your help.

What does the DSN look like on this machine compared to the other machines?
Does it specify an ENG= ... parameter?

2 solutions are:

1) Specify the engine name with the ENG= parameter
2) Update the LINKS= parameter to exclude named pipes and limit it to SHMEM
for shared memory which is your most likely connection protocol choice for a
local database.
