I would like to give my users the ability to Create, Alter, Drop, and
troubleshoot their own Publications and Subscriptions without giving them
the adssys password.

Using ARC 8.10.0.6 I have done the following:

I have added Create permissions for Publications and Subscriptions to a
User Group.
I have added Alter and Drop Permissions for Publications and
Subscriptions to this User Group.

Issues:
Non-adssys users do not have access to the Replication Queues for
subscriptions that they created.
From ARC non-adssys users cannot delete (drop) subscriptions that they
created even when the replication queue is empty (no error message).

Question:
Is there a way in ARC to give users permissions to the Replication Queue
table for subscriptions that they have rights to without using adssys?

Related ARC Issue:
When a non-adssys user selects a subscription (for which he has
permissions) in ARC a 5126 Error occurs: 'the specified property ID is not
valid for this function'. The popup menu is displayed and Subscription
properties can be displayed after acknowledging the error message.

Thanks for any help.

Regards,

Simon Stanley

Hi Simon,
I've reproduced the replication permission issues you reported - turns out
they're both caused by the same problem. I'm working on a fix for it now
& it should be ready for the next service release of 8.1. As a work around
you can manually give users or groups permissions on the replication queue(s).
My fix will be to assign the appropriate permissions to the queue when it
is created.

I also reproduced the ARC issue you mentionded and I'll enter it into our
bug database for our ARC masters to fix.

To answer your question, at this time you cannot assign permissions to the
replication queue without being logged in as ADSSYS. This is due to the
bug you found. Once I get it fixed, the creator of the subscription will
be able to assign permissions to any user/group to that subscription's replication
queue (as well as the subscription itself).

Thanks Peter, that will be great.

If possible, please drop me an email when the release is available.

Best regards,

Simon Stanley
