Hi all,
I am using XR480 symbol reader to read tags. There are 2 RX
antennas connected to the XR480. I wanted to figure out
which antenna read which tag.
I am using ALE report to read the tag data but it does not
contain sourceid.
Is there a way to identify which antenna (out of 8 antennas
in XR480) read the tag ?
Sun:
If you have set up your ALE report to combine the reads, you are correct
that the unique antenna will not be contained in the report.
A few options:
1. You could use RFID Anywhere's custom business module architecture to
handle the tag reads immediately as they come in - - and one of the
properties of the event is the specific reader\antenna the event came from.
2. If you really need to use ALE, you could create separate ALE reports for
each antenna (limiting, as one of the goals of ALE is to provide that
filtering/grouping automatically for you). If you later need the data
consolidated, your receiving application could do that, or you could create
additional reports.
If you tell us a bit more about the application you are writing, we can
provide some additonal tips, but for most developers, RFID Anywhere's
business module architecture of event handling provides all the flexibility
needed. Please have a quick read through the RFID Anywhere Developer's
Guide or some of the whitepapers, etc. on the Insider site to learn a bit
more about business modules.
Hope this helps,
Matt..
Hi Sun,
what Matt means, is to create several ALE instances, one per antenna,
because ALE does not provide enough info at antenna level, only works fine
with "whole readers".
