But in the Adaptive Server Enterprise 15.0 Manual i could
read something about "Logging in after lost password -
dataserver -prsmith". Isn't there any equal oportunity for
iAnywhere 9?

That seems like a good reason never to use ASE in an embedded database
environment... any end user could gain total control as long as they
had possession of the physical database files.

No, there is no equivalent in SQL Anywhere. SQL Anywhere can run on a
plethora of mobile devices, including laptops and CE devices. If you had
confidential information stored in a database on a Windows CE device that
was lost or stolen, would you want anybody who had access to the physical
database file to be able to hack into your database by resetting the DBA
password? I certainly wouldn't. Most people consider this a Very Good
Thing.

As Breck points out, I believe that ASE is under the assumption that you
have protected the physical files that store your data, so having the
ability to reset the DBA password might be OK.
