MBusiness6.5 build 216
Hi All,

I have just started investigating/developing/integrating
M-Business in our current system and i have come across a
brickwall... and i was wondering if there are ways to
overcome the issue...

1. we have over 1000 PPC devices, and will need to have
M-Business client deployed onto them, with all the correct
server settings and individual user/password settings
configure onto the device, therefore we tried deploying the
m-business client cab file on to the handheld and have it
installed automatically, which it does, but my problem now
is trying to configure the server/user/password settings on
the device. Are there any way of inputting these values via
change in registry or any config files or running a mal file
on the device??

cheers

Alan

How do these devices connect to the network?
Do they do it via ActiveSync?
If so, they can download the .mal file and that will setup this
information at the desktop side, which gets downloaded to the client.

they are connected via a multi port cradle, and
unfortunately we don't use activesync, we use a software
called econnect to call afaria to manage the data transfer.

also, if the device is connected to m-business server via
gprs(online connection) how does the mal file work in that
scenario? or would the device still need to connect to a
desktop that had the mal file setting on it? or can it be
done online??

thanks

Alan

All the MAL file does is allow you to "script" the creation of the
Server Options.

You don't need one.
In the MBiz client you can go to Tools -> Server Options and setup the
same information. Then tell it to sync. The MAL just scripts the
creation of the server, user and password.
