I took a sampling of the data from Mobilink Monitor and need
some clarification:

duration - 14:30:35
Documentation says Total Duration of Synchronization. What
part of the synchronization is represented by this time?

preload_upload - 15:47:56
Is this the total time it took from the time the remote site
connected to the Mobilink Server to the time it took for the
Mobilink Server to receive the entire packet of data?

upload - 22:11:44
This makes sense from the documentation.

download - 22:24:07
If we are using upload only, why would there be a number for
this counter?

Thanks

FYI, we have the sybase.public.sqlanywhere.mobilink group for questions
about MobiLink.

Before v10, the times recorded by the Monitor started when a sync
request was assigned to a worker thread (and pending sync requests were
queued by the OS network layer). So duration records the time from when
the sync request is assigned to a worker thread until it is completed
and released from the worker thread. It should be the sum (modulo
rounding) of the other times for the sync that appear in the table.

This is the time required for the transfer of the upload data from the
remote to the MobiLink synchronization server (after the "verify_upload"
time required to verify the synchronization protocol and authenticate
the synchronization client).

Do you have download acknowledgement enabled? This is the time required
for data to be fetched from the consolidated database and downloaded to
the remote database. If download acknowledgement is enabled, this
includes the time to apply the download on the remote database and
return acknowledgement.

If you open the property sheet for the sync (eg. by double clicking on
it) you can see the download stats (for the whole sync or broken down by
table). The number of bytes is non-zero even for empty downloads because
of overhead (including the upload ack).

BTW, Dave's question about the exact version is important because I
recall we had a bug at one point about some time being allocated to the
wrong category.

Cheers,

Graham
