Hi Oscar,

What is the contents of the entry for the 7066 error in ads_err.adt? It
sounds like the table was encrypted with an old version of Advantage (prior
to v5.5, which was released in 1999). Or the table is simply not compatible
with Advantage. Did you recently upgrade from v5.1? Or did the table come
from an external source?

Hi Oscar,

That error is indicating that the DBF is not recognized by Advantage. The
very first byte in a DBF table indicates the type of DBF (e.g., DBF with no
memo, DBF with .fpt memo, etc.). The type byte in this file is 0x06, 0x86,
or 0xF6, which is one of the "type" values that v5.1 and earlier used to
signify that the table was encrypted. Since you upgraded from 7.x, it seems
unlikely that this is a 5.1 encrypted table. So it most likely means that
the table has been corrupted somehow. Do you have a backup of the table
that you can compare it against to see what has changed?

Mark,
Viewing the file with an hexa editor, the first 2123 Hex bytes where
replaced many times with:
d:\sis\liaaduanas\datos\detallef.dbf s\liaaduanas\datos\detallef.dbf
os\detallef.dbf dbf os\detallef.dbf
and other symbols. This path refere to a file path as the server see it
(drive d:its a server drive). There are no dbf header, no first records.
I have a backup and installed but; the samething occured two more times, and
now I got corrupted another table.
1 table corrupted 3 times in 4 days. keep me connected by phone wth my
customer all day.

What do I need to solve the problem, I have two dump files twenty something
megabytes that can no open with notepad or word.

Thank You!
Oscar

Hi Oscar,

The existence of a dump file (adsdump-...dmp.gz) indicates some kind of
unexpected error occurred. Please send the dump files and error logs
(ads_err.*) to advantage@ianywhere.com. Also, if you could include one of
the corrupted files, that might be useful.
