Hi,

I have a lot of scripts using the 'use <database'>-command,
but i can't run them in my Workspace 1.7 cause the
'use'-command does not change my current database. (The
database is chosen through the Profiles).

Will this be possible in Workspace 2.0 ?

Greetz
Pieter

Pieter,

The database context is set in the connection profile. You can add "use
<db>" command to the sql files in appropriate places and when you execute
the sql script or highlighted text (which includes "use " stmt) the current
database would be changed when the statements execute. However, after
execution is finished, the default database context is restored as per
connection profile properties. This behavior will remain the same in WS 2.0.

Regards,
Samir

One other thing. In WS 2.0, we are introducing SQL Scrapbook (adhoc sql
editor) which will have a quick option to select database server connection
profile and select one of the databases available on that server. That will
help to quickly change target server/database to execute one or more
statements. It may help if my prior suggestion doesn't.

Regards,
Samir

Hi Samir,

thx for the response. That's good news !! I can use both
features, so this is good to hear. In fact, I use the WS 1.7
as a scrapbook, a replacement for our SQL Advantage. So
writing rapid sql statements is important.

Have you noticed if you use sp_help that the result is
flickering every update of the result (which makes sp_help
not fun to use). Please not that a empty line would be
welcome between 2 results...

Thx
Pieter

Hi,
While we're on this subject, is there a target release date for WS 2.0?

Kevin,

It is currently set for release in December (next month). That is what I
know at this moment. If you want to get a confirmed date, please speak to
your Sybase representative. He can follow-up on that request appropriately.
I will try to remember to post a note on this newsgroup to let you all know
when it goes GA.

Regards,
Samir
