Hi All,

I am trying to migrate some Powerbuilder 9 applications to
Powerbuilder 11.1. I am sure that there must be many who
have already done so. Are there any issues which one must be
aware of for the migration?

Specifically I am interested in finding out about the
'Automatically convert DBCS string manipulation Functions'
setting in the Migration utility in PB 11.1.I am not very
clear about when we should choose this option and when not
to choose the setting ?

Are there any changes in open source PFC from the PFCs
supplied with Powerbuilder 10.0

Thanks in advance for any answers which might be
forthcoming.

regards,

enkay

DBCS (Double Byte Character Set) is similar in concept to Unicode. I think
that if you were using it, you would know.

The main difference is Unicode verses Ansi. This effects external function
calls ( Win API Functions ) or read/write of text files.

Click the Help button in the Migrate Application dialog box to find out more
about
the DBCS string manipulation check box.

Hi,

I have just migrate my PB application from PB 6.5 & 7.1 to PB 10.5.1.
Except the problem already spot with the unicode, I did not have any
issues.

If you want, I can give you some sample of modification you will need
to do in the API function declaration.

Regards,
Roland Scheepers

You should post the API function you are having trouble with. Not all of
them have the same changes needed.
